The Wylie church puts an emphasis on the Biblical education of every member. From our very youngest children to the elders of the congregation, everybody is continually learning, growing, maturing, and striving to understand the Bible in a more complete way.
"You must continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them; and that from childhood you have known the sacred writing which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation" (2 Timothy 3:14-15).
To accomplish this mission, we have dedicated our facilities to Biblical training and worship only. You may not find recreational rooms or a cafeteria at Wylie, but you will find classrooms that are usually filled to the brim with minds, both young and old, who are seeking closer communion with God through the knowledge of the scriptures.
We have classes for toddlers, always supervised in a safe, caring environment. Our children study an expansive curriculum that takes them on a journey through the Bible, covering every book and every major event. Our teenagers study material that is applicable to their struggles, with caring men from the congregation who serve as counselors, friends, and teachers. We have two adult classes, in session twice a week, providing ample opportunity for growth even into our golden years.
In addition, monthly home groups for men, women, and teenagers supplement our weekly sessions, and provide for social opportunities. You will find that we are a church that not only learns and studies together, but one that also eats and plays together!
The Wylie church also has an active lectureship program. Twice a year, we organize events that last up to a week involving multiple Bible-based lectures and worship activities. Engaging speakers are brought from all over the country to help us make Christ the focal point of our congregation's education and vision for the future. These events are sometimes called Gospel meetings, lectureships, or lesson series, but whatever the formality one thing is always true: visitors are welcome! Our future lineup includes:
2013: Paul White from Cedar Park, TX (spring) and Berry Kercheville from Nashville, TN (September)
2014: David Banning from Birmingham, AL (spring) and Jerry Cleek from Hobart, IN (fall)
2015: Don Truex from Temple Terrace, FL (spring) and Rickie Jenkins from Garland, TX (fall)
2016: Dee Lancaster from Portales, NM (spring) and Mark Roberts from Irving, TX (fall)
